The Golden Mile is the six kilometre coastal strip between Marbella old town and Puerto Banus, and in 2026 it is the most expensive address on the Costa del Sol. This Golden Mile Marbella guide for 2026 covers what has changed, what it costs and whether it is the right base for your stay. Average asking prices on the strip now sit near 7,036 euros per square metre, and beachfront apartments at Puente Romano and Marbella Club trade between 19,000 and 44,000 euros per square metre depending on frontage.

What is new on the Golden Mile in 2026?

Puente Romano has had the busiest year. La Petite Maison has opened there, bringing Cote d'Azur cooking to the resort. The Six Senses Spa finished a full refurbishment in 2026, with the thermal area rebuilt and the treatment rooms relaid for better flow. The central plaza has been reworked as FENDI x La Plaza, restyled but still recognisably Andalusian. A short walk east, TATEL Marbella is taking over Villa Tiberio, one of the oldest restaurant addresses on the strip.

Marbella Club, the hotel that started the whole strip in 1954, sits a few hundred metres west and still sets the tone: low buildings, mature gardens, no towers. That planning restraint is the reason the Golden Mile looks nothing like the rest of the coast.

Away from the resorts, the boardwalk still does the heavy lifting. You can walk the whole promenade from Marbella old town to Puerto Banus in around 90 minutes, flat, with the sea on one side the entire way.

What does it cost to buy there?

Houses on the Golden Mile averaged roughly 5,800 euros per square metre in 2026, up about 5.5 per cent year on year. Established developments such as Senorio de Marbella and Coto Real have held steady at 5,500 to 6,000 euros per square metre. The very top of the market is the tightest: prime beachfront near Puente Romano has passed 30,000 euros per square metre, and stock rarely reaches the open market.

Should you stay on the Golden Mile?

Stay here if you want the beach clubs and the restaurants within walking distance and you do not need nightlife on the doorstep. If you want the marina and the late bars, Puerto Banus is the better base. Our guide to the best areas to stay in Marbella compares them properly, and the beach clubs guide covers what is open along this stretch.
